So you do business on the net, or want to do business on the net? That's great! Nobody can deny the future (as well as the present) is there. So are there a few things everyone should definitely know about doing business on the net? Definitely!
In many ways doing business on the net is similar to doing business in real life (In many ways it's not, of course, and we've talked about a few of them already, and will talk about a few more). For starters - you have to have a product people need or want. And you have to have a basic business structure. Just like in real life. And just like in real life, you have to excel at what you do, you have to be better than others. One way you can achieve this is by creating a great environment in your online store. Just like you would in your real store.
How can you do this?
The first key is to recognize that people tend to buy a lifestyle, not a product. There is a reason Marlboro always uses wide open country spaces and cowboys in its advertising - so that you can feel like a cowboy if you smoke! Or Pepsi, way back in the day when they were threatening Coca-Cola very seriously for world domination, what was the slogan: the taste of the new generation! Wow. I felt it. I remember a great ad they had. It was just after the fall of the Soviet Union, and there was a young, cool, rebelious Russian man in torn jeans walking across Red Square with a can of Pepsi Cola! Man that drink made me feel free when I drank it, and I drank it in Saskatchewan....
If you take the best online companies with lines of, say, clothing, you'll notice they have a definite angle on what they are offering. They don't just have two words and a picture of the product. They have models (attractive, of course, Mama Mia!) and in some cases, wild nature, fresh and beautiful. You can almost feel the breeze blowing through your wallet.
So it's very important that you keep in mind what image your product is selling, cause if you don't have an image, you probably won't ever achieve great sales.
Also, as a side not, you'll want to keep in mind that the more information the better. People can't try the clothes on, so they might feel a little uncertain about shelling out big bucks (or even small bucks, to be perfectly honest) for something that won't fit them. So make sure you have sizes, and colours, and material, and stuff like that.
That's as far as the product is concerned. What about the store itself? Also just like in real life.
Ask yourself - what do I like about shopping in a certain store? Is the floor dirty? Does it smell bad? Is it cluttered and hard to find what you're looking for? Is it easy to find a salesperson to help you? Do you feel safe, or could someone jump out and steal your money when you're trying to pay?
All of these questions are directly applicable to your online store (well, except maybe the smell, of course...). The solutions are easy enough to find. Bloomland can certainly help you...
