Bloomland History
Bloomland founder Serge Vinokour recalls how unusual the company beginning were with a laugh. Bloomland started as a Flower Shop. His wife, a florist by trade, decided to start her own business and opened a flower shop in Marpole. Serge being in IT, immediately suggested he build a web site for the new business.
Owning a flower shop did not work out for his wife, she sold the business and opened a Deli instead. But the website for the flower shop was so good and interesting that friends and business partners started to ask Serge to work on their websites. But after building each website there was a lot of on-going maintenance, Serge was an IT developer and project manager but his new clients were not, he could build them excellent sites but who was going to do the maintenance?
Serge believed that it was in the best interest of the business owner to maintain his own site instead of contracting out the work. To be able to add a promotion, replace a page, change pricing on a product on the fly was a requirement as he saw it. What business can afford to wait? But how could they maintain their fully featured sites without a first class developer?
From this need came the idea, build a website company that provides small and medium businesses with websites that are business ready and are can be maintained internally by the company owner or employees. After trying different ideas and several years of development, the Bloomland playform for business was completed.
Today the company is focused on providing business ready, richly featured websites that are adaptable to a multitude of industries. It also features a hosting division, a web collaboration suite of products for the companies wanting to go the extra step and custom web development.
